THz waves offer vast bandwidth and unique spectral signatures, enabling high-capacity transmission and high-resolution imaging. However, the efficient manipulation of THz signals poses significant challenges due to the lack of practical electronic components operating at these frequencies. Optoelectronic THz beamforming leverages the benefits of both optics and electronics to address these challenges. This presentation explores the design and implementation of photonic integrated circuits tailored for THz frequencies, encompassing power combining, beam steering, and adaptive tracking functionalities. The results highlight the enormous potential of photonic integrated circuits for advancing THz wireless communication and imaging systems, offering unprecedented efficiency, agility, and adaptability.
